Feedback from various consultations indicated the community no longer want the bowling area, would like to see paths moved further away from houses and didn’t want natural hedging species around the children’s playground. We had hoped to agree these changes with the planning authority as part of our landscape design agreement. Unfortunately, planning considered these changes as 'material’, so we have to either keep to the layout agreed in the planning permission we inherited when we bought the field, or submit a new application. Therefore we are currently working on revised plans with our architect, incorporating community feedback for a more softened rural scheme; minimal disruption to neighbours during construction and use; and something which enhances the current site and is enjoyed by the community for decades to come.
We have new drawings and plans for public consultation. These are available to view and provide feedback on this site, and on our facebook page https://www.facebook.com/llangennithhall.llangennith . We will also visit all neighbouring properties to discuss in detail and gain their feedback. We are also reconfiguring the toilet area within the Hall to provide a further disabled toilet which can be accessed from outside only. We aim to submit a new planning application by early June. For our Lottery grant, we have to make a start on construction by 30.9.15. If by July, our revised planning permission application is not progressing, we will revert to our existing planning permission minus the bowling area, so as not to miss the construction start deadline and jeopardise our lottery grant.
Additional fund raising for the remaining £4,000 needed is underway. Our Easter Egg Hunt attracted over 90 children accompanied by parents, grandparents, siblings and extended family. It was a lovely sunny day and everyone had fun. We are currently working with Llangennith Youth Club to put on Alice in Wonderland in August; many thanks to Amanda De La Hey and Fay Calvin Thomas for volunteering and leading on this. We are planning a Harvest Supper, Table top sale and Film Night Special. Do you have any old photos of the hall and field we can use on our website? If you can help in any way, please consider lending a hand.
